Background of Capital Campaign | ||||
Founding
Pastor Larry Smithwick has a vision for a school that would not only feature
Christ Centered education, but that would Share the Joy by developing
disciples, able and willing to take the Love of Christ to their world. During
the 1990s, Grace Christian School grew from about 300 students to near
700 necessitating facility expansion foreseen in the School Board's Strategic
Planning process. Phase 1 was an expansion of the north Worship Auditorium-Gymnasium
and some classrooms. Phase 2 was a two floor wing of classrooms, laboratories
and library extending south. These expansions were overseen by many faithful
founders: With
support of Parent Church, Anchorage
Grace and following two strategic
plans conducted for the school board of Grace
Christian School, a third phase of facility expansion has been launched
during 2005. Phase 3 will be a double-wide Gymnasium
combined with classrooms and offices located
at the south end of the current Grace Christian School Facility. Anchorage
Grace Church will take the lead in building a dedicated Fine Arts / Chapel
extending from the northwest side of the facility. A Capital Campaign called "Share-the-Joy" is designed to fund the project while continuing to support faculty and scholarships by assuring funding of the Annual Fund. The Kick-off of the Campaign was October 28, 2005 at the Egan Center. |
